Made in collaboration with Mitsuru Yokoyama, tatami maker in Kyoto, this project offers a new orientation to its ancestral know-how by reversing the vegetal carpet that covers the traditional tatami. By passing it vertically, we can take advantage of its compressive strength properties of the fibers, as well as the flexibility of the weaving which links them together.

We have therefore developed a new process of shaping this material, and designed this set of stackable and minimalist furniture. Consisting of a table and two stools, each of the lids is removable which offers a discreet and clever storage.
