reverse the omote

Produced in collaboration with the Motoyama Tatami company in Kyoto, this project proposes a new orientation to its ancestral know-how by reversing the vegetal carpet that covers the traditional tatami.

By passing it vertically, it is a question of exploiting at the same time the qualities of resistance to the compression of the fibers, as well as the flexibility of the weaving which links them.

We have therefore developed a new process for shaping this material.

MINIMAL FURNITURE

This new manufacturing process offers the possibility to imagine many application-products.

In particular pieces of furniture that take advantage of the natural resistance of the plant mat placed vertically.

A modular and minimalist set consisting of a table and two stools, each of the lids is removable.

The set offers discreet and clever storage.

These objects invite to take a new look at ancestral know-how.
